If there is one thing I have become passionate about in the last few years, that thing would be breakfast. Heck, I even pick hostels and hotels over who has the best breakfast options! I am not an early riser, so I guess you could say I am more of a brunch lover but either way, I could eat breakfast foods all the time. Because of my love for breakfast, I am always on the search for restaurants who have perfected one of the many foods of breakfast. Below are my favorite Nashville breakfast joints.
1. The Perch
This was one of the first breakfast places I went in Nashville because they have a location about 0.5 miles from my university. The Perch was also the place where I discovered my love for crepes. I’m a sucker for the delicious Nutella and banana crepe, but they also have many other great options like egg, manchego cheese, chorizo, and salsa verde crepe or apple cinnamon crepe. The Perch also serves customizable waffles and some of the most delicious cheese grits, so if you’re not a fan of crepes, you can still find your niche! They have two locations being in Green Hills and Brentwood, and I will say the Brentwood location is “cuter” if you’re about the atmosphere. It is in a little house with separate rooms, so you feel like you’re at a friend’s home enjoying breakfast.
I know I’ve mentioned this breakfast place in a past post, but I really wanted to give it the attention it deserved. The Pfunky Griddle is one of my favorite local restaurants in Nashville because of its unique service. They let you cook your own pancakes, eggs, and potatoes at your table!! I know, its crazy and awesome. They have a wide assortment of toppings from healthy all the way to very unhealthy candy. But who cares, you’re cooking your pancake on your own so you should go for the candy if you want it. It is so much fun to go to, but expect to wait for a table because this place is a hot spot on the weekends for families and friends.
3. Skyblue Cafe
Skyblue Cafe, how I love you so. This breakfast joint is one of the best. Its tucked away in a random neighborhood in East Nashville which makes it super hip and definitely delicious. The first time I went, my friends recommended this bowl of basically all the savory breakfast items mixed together in it. Sounds weird but I took a chance on it, and now I’m addicted. Y’all, I sometimes go eat at this place alone during off hours. That is addiction. But anyways, the Em Bowl has biscuits covered in gravy topped with home fries, colby jack, sausage, and eggs. If you want to get even more crazy, you can add jalapeños and sour cream. Besides the Em Bowl, they also have other delicious items like Eggs Benedict or healthy, light dishes. Also, sorry about the quality of the pictures below, I was shaking from excitement to eat my bowl.
This restaurant is very random, and it is definitely deep in the back neighborhoods of East Nashville, but it is worth the drive. I will also warn you that it really is a shack, so don’t be shocked when you pull up. I discovered it this summer and my boyfriend and I decided to try all of the biscuits one morning because they are all very unique. There is a strawberry jalapeño goat cheese biscuit, a lemon blueberry jam goat cheese biscuit, a fried triple cheddar biscuit, and a Porter Road sausage, cheese, and egg biscuit. We tried all four with my favorite being the strawberry and my boyfriend’s favorite being the triple cheddar. They all had a unique twist and we fun to try! The Riverside Grillshack also offers breakfast sandwiches as well, so wake up early and head over to be filled up!
Enjoy your breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day! And also check out this wonderful breakfast pun:
