If you live in Nashville, you know there are a surplus of coffee shops in the area to suffice the addiction of the even bigger surplus of coffee addicts. College students, young parents, corporate men, hipsters… They all need coffee- and heck, Nashville has it!
Pretty much everyone knows the main coffee shops around town: Frothy Monkey, Fido’s, Bongo Java, Portland Brew… but I wanted to introduce you to my favorite ones in Nashville. I definitely recommend going out, getting out of our coffee comfort zone, and trying something NEW!
In no particular order:
1. Eighth & Roast
I actually visited this coffee shop for the first time today! They had your basic, expected menu of coffee drinks but they also impressed me with a very unique, foreign menu as well. I was lucky enough to bring my Italian friend, Jennifer, with me and she was overly excited to see familiar Italian drinks and names: an Affogato (espresso poured over ice cream) and a Cafe Naranja (espresso, muddled orange peel, and local honey shaken with coconut milk). I enjoyed the Affogato and Jennifer tried the Cafe Naranja. They were both delicious and a wonderful mixup instead of the usual latte. But on top of unique drinks, the atmosphere was great for studying or enjoying coffee with a friend. Jennifer and I sat at a community table with two other girls who were studying. It was a great first time visit and I definitely know I will be back again.
2. Barista Parlor
Before I first visited this coffee shop two years ago, my friend warned me, “watch out… that’s the most hip place in town.” So when I finally decided to go try it out, I tried to blend in by wearing my hippest, hipster clothes. Now don’t let that intimidate you from visiting Barista Parlor though. It has the best quality of coffee in town. I never drink my coffee fully black, but I actually can at Barista because the coffee is so dang good!!! They also have the coolest design of a coffee shop I’ve ever seen. But I’ll let the pictures do the convincing:
This place ROCKS!!! And the craziest thing about Atmalogy is that most people haven’t heard of it. It definitely wins the coziest, most unique award for any coffee shop I have ever been to in Nashville or the world! The building has three floors and multiple rooms each with a different purpose. Some are meeting rooms, study rooms, play rooms, cozy rooms, and music rooms. I know this sounds strange for a coffee shop, but you must go check it out for yourself. My boyfriend and I spent an entire gloomy, rainy day in here doing yoga and playing board games. Also, download the app “Scoutmob” and you can get 50% off your first order!
I went to Crema for the first time to actually take pictures for my friend’s music blog of one of my favorite Nashville bands, The Saint Johns (shameless plug-check them out!). Little did I know, I could reuse these pictures for my blog! But while I was there, I got to snoop around and see the neat system they had for brewing their coffee. They really take a ton of pride in the quality, sourcing, and roasting of the coffee. Its respectable! And if you’re interested, they also offer coffee classes and have brewing guides!
I wish I could review all of the coffee shops in Nashville, but these are some of my favorites that I had to feature! If you haven’t tried any of them, make it your goal to go to some of them this year! You won’t regret it.
